I didn’t meet Tom and Laura as a wedding photographer, rather I met them whilst I was photographing Christmas mini’s for children… but they don’t have a child… but they do have the most beautiful Dalmatian called Buttons.

Tom messaged me asking if they could bring Buttons for a Christmas mini shoot for their Christmas card. I figured yes, why not! And that was the beginning of a new friendship. From a dog wearing a Christmas jumper, to Tom being dressed as Santa to make the next year’s card  “more epic than the last” I went from photographing their dog to becoming their wedding photographer on their most perfect wedding day.
The weather was dubious. All week it wouldn’t give us an inclination on how it would go. Wet. Dry. Hail… all the above… in one day. When Saturday finally came, it was one heck of a day. The clouds hung in the air, keeping us on our toes all day, but in the end we had amazing weather and the rain came JUST as I was leaving. And to let the rain know who was boss; we owned it. We got the umbrella and flash and made the most amazing shot of their final minute with me.
Laura is just so beautiful, not inside and out, and all morning she was surrounded by her family and girlfriends as she prepped. I met them in Charfield at Eclipse hair salon where Lottie Kemp the MUA was busy working with the girls bouncing between hair and makeup all morning.
Tom was busy getting the last-minute preparations done. With his team of men in full swing at his every beck and call, it was all go for team Tom.
The ceremony took place at the glorious St Mary’s Church in Wotton Under Edge. While Laura was getting her dress on, the bells began to ring and everyone burst into excitement “Laura, those bells are for you!!!” It was time.
Laura swept down the aisle passing the beautiful floral arrangements by Wild and Co, with her dress rustling the smell of fresh roses as she met her new husband at the altar. Even Buttons made a show by bringing the rings up the aisle to his human’s.
I am really lucky to shoot at Kingscote Barn regularly as being a Gloucestershire wedding photographer Kingscote Barn is on my doorstep (lucky me eh!?) With the party heading up into the Cotswolds and down the drive to Kingscote Barn, I was ready to photograph whatever Tom wanted to throw at me. He had a list and a load of ideas on what he wanted for his wedding pictures. It was my perfect day (yes mine!) I love it when the couple are up for going for a walk, making use of the grounds and trying new things. We laughed, we joked, we got covered in mud and we made memories.
It was a day I will never forget and I can’t help but thank you Tom and Laura for the kindness you showed me on your wedding day. For being such a wonderful couple. For the waves and smiles as I catch you in the coffee shop. My day job may be a Cotswold wedding photographer, but at the end of the day I am so grateful to be a photographer who makes clients into friends.
I wish you all the best on your future together. May you have a long, wonderful life together.
Love,
Alicia
