This week has been a triple whammy of magazine fun at Red Maple Photography. Some of my beautiful brides have been featured in West Weddings Magazine with their favourite pets, and then some of my brides who spent hours planning some of the most gloriously, wonderful wedding ideas have been featured in another magazine called Handmade Wedding which can be bought at WHSmith.
It may have taken me six months to get this blog up, but it is finally here. In September 2015 I entered a photography competition with Canon UK. With thousands of photographers entering images from all over the UK I was very lucky to be the chosen winner of their World Rugby Cup Competition.
Now, if you aren’t into rugby this may mean nothing to you, but in our house this was BIG news. Not only did I get to feel pretty proud of my accomplishment but I also got the BEST prize of all time.
I have the BEST couples.
Many hands make light work.
Are you prepping at your parents house or a venue? What’s your reason? Is it sentimental?

It was cold out…. VERY cold… and VERY foggy. Not many couples want to embrace the cold and fog for an outdoor pre wedding shoot, but Emily and Andrew not only embraced it, they turned it into a hot, fiery session! I was one happy wedding photographer!
I’ve been married for twelve years and one of the things my photographer had us do when we came out of the church was he tucked us away beside the church for two minutes while the guests came out of the church. It was two minutes where it was just about me and Paul. One of my most memorable times of the day.
When you are choosing your wedding photographer, it’s the little details like this that make a photographer turn from just taking pictures to helping create your day. So whether you’re having a church ceremony, outdoor ceremony or registar, when you’ve walked out, tuck yourselves away for a minute and just be. In the quiet and away from the chaos ( or get in touch with me and I’ll help you create this moment!)
When I met with Emma and Rob and listened to their wedding plans, I THINK I only heard “wrestlers, Bibury and fun”; the rest is noise really.
This couple are awesome. They believe in fun, love and family. It was easy. Even the weather wasn’t an issue. I arrived in Bibury ahead of schedule because Badminton horse trials were on and they were making it an interesting drive getting to Bibury on this fine Saturday morning.
After several days of poor weather, the sun was shining, the tourists were out by the bus load and this wedding was already kicked into high gear.
The Swan Hotel is a beautiful hotel to photograph weddings at and it makes a Cotswold wedding photographer VERY happy! Emma and her best friends were happy as can be when I arrived at their room. The MUA was busy making everyone look glamorous and the little gals were busy chatting away about the day to come whilst playing on their iPads.
As a Gloucestershire wedding photographer it is always so nice to shoot weddings in Bibury because the scenery is idyllic. The tiny picturesque cottages, the little bridges and the swans swimming around gracefully’ it’s perfect. And then there is the golden hour time… oh my… H-E-A-V-E-N.
Rob, Nick and Dave were in good form as they donned their beautiful three piece suits by Dyfed Menswear. The matching tweed waistcoats were enough that buttonholes were not a must have for these men. The Chaos cufflinks representing a very special bond between the three and their business success made for an added touch to their suits.
When I returned from the guys, Emma was heading into the bridal suite, where her designer wedding dress from Wed2b was waiting in all its glory for Emma to proudly wear as she became Rob’s wife. Her bridesmaids took great care to lace every inch of the bodice perfectly.
The garden was ready, the music was playing and their guests awaited the grand entrance of Emma and her bridal party. As they swept down the aisle, the tourists were standing at the back quickly snapping away at a special moment in time. As the wedding ceremony went and the confetti was thrown, the party began. I was lucky to photograph some great couple’s and moments with Emma and Rob’s guests.
It is always an pleasure being a wedding photographer and catching those little moments as they happen, especially when people don’t know it is happening is so nice. It makes looking through the wedding photographs an added bonus and hearing “I had no idea she got that!” It was with great honour that I thank Emma and Rob for allowing me to photograph their wedding day. If you are planning your wedding and looking for a Gloucestershire wedding photographer, please get in touch. I would love to hear about your day. I am happy to travel wherever the wind may lead you and make your day into a memory of pictures.
If you are planning your wedding at The Swan Hotel or another fantastic venue, field or ocean (I am not fussy!) please feel free to contact me or have a look at my collections and prices as I would love to photograph your wedding day. Every wedding is designed around the couple, because your day should go your way.
